Bio:General Information

Name: Hisako Ichiki
Codename: Armor
Age: 18

Powers

Description of Powers: Hisako can call upon a type of psionic exoskeleton "armor" to surround her body. This armor appears as transparent blue (and sometimes red if she's especially angered or determined) bubble-like energy segments of various size that can take humanoid/robotic form depending on her will and concentration, and which she can freely move in as if it were a second skin as well as shape to some extent.

Though it isn't quite clear yet just what exactly her armor is made of, Hisako believes that it is the physical embodiment of the combined strength and spirit of her ancestors that she can call upon to protect her. Whether this is the case or not is all a matter of faith at the moment, but what is a fact is that this power grants her superhuman strength and durability, giving her high defense from powerful attacks and extreme temperatures (such as those from a fall through the atmosphere) as well as increasing the force behind her own offensive blows.

She has yet to find anything that can breech her armor while it’s up (not having been around any adamantium thus far), though enough force can still knock her over and disrupt her concentration. She can even release a large amount of solid, concussive energy from it all at once. However, doing so completely exhausts her almost instantly and she has yet to be able to completely control its direction.

Appearance
Brief Description: Hisako is 5’6” tall and weighs 120lbs. with straight black hair and black eyes. She tends to dress conservatively, favoring darker colors though she'll occasionally wear something a bit brighter if she's in the mood. The problem is that it's hard to tell what mood she's in at any given time, since the Japanese teen tends to retain a more reserved, stoic, and soldier-like visage, leaving most people to rely on her words and body language for a hint.

Personality
Quirks/Habits:
  • Despite her knowledge of English vocabulary and grammar, Hisako prefers using full words over contractions, making her sound slightly unnatural/robotic at times given her stoic/taciturn nature.
  • She’s very much a believer in the Shinto religion and goes through the usual rituals, including having a miniature home ‘shrine’ in her room as many Shinto practitioners in Japan do.
  • She rarely smiles openly and prefers to retain a more neutral expression despite having a full range of emotion.
  • Hisako is rather traditionally Japanese and tends to speak politely, though she also has a tendency towards morbid humor and/or expressing disdain by muttering under her breath in her native language.
  • Though she wouldn't say it outright, Hisako has a soft spot for animals, especially rabbits.
Likes: Meditation, Shinto, martial arts, traditional Japanese swordsmanship, cleanliness/organization, intelligence, udon (thick Japanese noodles), tea, flowers, reading, animals, snow.
Dislikes: Arrogance, drunks, her mother, too much noise, messes/disorganization, intolerant people, people who automatically think she can't speak/understand proper English because of her accent and terse method of speech.
Phobias/Fears: Letting down the people she cares about, being useless/helpless, needles, blood (to some extent).
Extrovert/Introvert: Introvert

Background
Brief Personal History: Hisako was born in Kyoto, Japan as the daughter of a Shinto shrine caretaker named Yukio Ichiki and a corporate businesswoman, Reiko Asagawa, though the two divorced when the girl was very young and Reiko's constant traveling for work left her with little presence in her daughter's life. As such Hisako grew up at the shrine under the caring yet almost strictly traditional eye of her father. She would act as the resident "miko", or shrine maiden, keeping it well taken care of and abiding by the values of the role alongside her normal Japanese school life.

Pushed to be as successful as possible from both her teachers and her father, the girl studied hard (finding a surprising aptitude for the English language with help from a cram school), joined the more traditional Karate and Kendo teams and made quite the name for herself among tournament-goers. ...But all the accomplishments didn't mean crap for her social situation. Hisako never really talked much to anyone and, no matter how much some of the younger girls seemed to idolize her "cool" nature, she had no real friends. Some classmates found her unusual strength and skill in traditional male-dominated sports to be creepy and unnatural, while others chided behind her back that she was some pompous overachiever that thought herself too good to talk to anyone. And in true Japanese student fashion...she said nothing, keeping mention of the rumors from her teachers and her father, and not letting anyone see that she was actually sad and lonely.

Unfortunately things would only get more complex in Hisako's life. The summer of her sixteenth year she and her father had decided to take a road trip to the ocean. They never made it, as halfway through the journey their car was hit by a semi-truck that’s driver had been intoxicated. The compact vehicle was easily crushed, though Hisako found herself spared from death as a blue glow surrounded her body and kept back the twisting metal. Eventually it faded as both cars came to a halt, leaving the area around her widened. Hisako was left shocked and confused…until she looked to her right and found her father half-crushed, bleeding and limp in the driver’s seat. All she remembered next was screaming at the top of her lungs…and then darkness.

She woke up screaming in a hospital bed and was quickly surrounded by doctors and nurses who calmed the teen down before giving her the worst news a child could get: her father had died in the wreck. They were stumped, however, at the fact that Hisako hadn’t gotten a scratch or even a bruise for that matter, she’d just passed out from the stress. Still they wanted to do some tests, though instead of finding hidden injuries, they found a not-so-hidden mutation as her armor formed unconsciously from a fear of needles when a nurse tried to draw blood. Hisako was subsequently released and her mother eventually contacted in time for the funeral.

Unable to leave the girl on her own, Hisako was forced (much to her discontent) to leave the shrine and travel with her previously estranged mother to the U.S., where she was issued a green card and continued her high school career in a boarding school in Washington state while Reiko continued hopping from place to place on business. Having just recently turned 18 Hisako became a legal adult and decided to cut ties with her mother, the letter of invitation from Professor Xavier intriguing the teen enough to spend her senior year (and possibly do some higher learning) at the Institute across the country.
